World Hemophilia Day 2024: Equitable Access for All – Recognizing All Bleeding Disorders

This year’s theme, "Equitable access for all: recognizing all bleeding disorders," underscores the urgent need for increased awareness, support, and access to care for individuals living with bleeding disorders such as hemophilia, von Willebrand Disease, and others.

According to the World Federation of Hemophilia, over 1 million Filipinos are impacted by bleeding disorders, yet shockingly, only around 1,600 have been diagnosed. This leaves many individuals undiagnosed and without access to proper care and support.

"We urge the government to provide more support to individuals with hemophilia, von Willebrand Disease, and other bleeding disorders. The lack of access to proper care and resources exacerbates the challenges faced by affected individuals and their families,” said HAP president Andrea Trinidad.

She said that HAP works together with the medical community, government agencies, and corporate partners, to ensure equitable access to treatment and support for all those living with bleeding disorders.

Every year, HAP together with the Philippine Children’s Medical Center, Philippine General Hospital, Filinvest Malls and other partners celebrates World Hemophilia Day, as a platform to raise awareness about bleeding disorders, advocate for improved access to treatment, and provide support to affected individuals and their families. The event at Festival Mall will feature educational activities, resource booths, and opportunities for networking and community building.

HAP invites everyone to join in commemorating World Hemophilia Day and supporting the cause of equitable access for all.
